Ferritin

I have always taken out relevant tests to confirm the feasible levels of blood picture, I came across this forum discussion that highlighted me the facts about ferritin levels and fortunately I always took care about the required levels of ferritin without knowing its significance, my doctors are very busy for detailed discussion so if anybody could enlighten me the role of ferritin levels in this regards?
