History of foot orthotics

Hello, Trying to find articles related to functional shoe last I’ve found an interesting patent of Russell Plato Schwartz [ https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/libra…y/schwartz.cfm ] from 1937 which I think it is worth to be mentioned in any history of foot orthotics with his idea of modifying the frontal sections of the heel of shoe last in order to “control” the pronation. What it was interesting for me it was the mentioning of the fact that the lower surface of os calcis “is inclined upwardly and inwardly at an angle varying with different individuals between substantial minimum and maximum limits” , demonstrated later by Dr.
