The Ponsetti method for clubfoot is being used with increased frequency and more research is supporting this approach as the gold standard. The Ponsetti technique involves aggressive physical manipulation of the clubfoot and the holding of the foot in that corrected position with a plaster and fibreglass splint. This is repeated at regular intervals in the infant until the desired correction is achieved. This can take many months. The Ponsetti Technique for clubfoot is not suitable for the rigid types of clubfoot as these will generally need surgery.
