Why fewer than 80% of males with the gout gene develop gout?

by admin on March 3, 2012

People who have the gout gene but do not smoke, are not overweight, are not exposed to lead, eat lots of dairy, vegetables and fruits, do not have hemochromatosis, don’t eat a lot of fried foods, do not abuse booze (especially beer and red wine), eat meat in moderation, drink plenty of fluids and never dehydrate themselves and start to donate blood regularly at an early age are much less likely to develop gout. In contrast, people who do all the wrong things may develop gout before age 30. Men with both the gout and hemochromatosis genes (perhaps 1 in 20,000 men) and do some of the wrong things may develop gout before age 20
