Popping in top of foot near 2nd 3rd metatarsal

Hi, while out for a run a few days ago my foot started feeling uncomfortable near the toes and across the top of the foot. I then felt a popping sensation and could barely walk! Went to A&e for an X-ray the next day but nothing showed.
