a few days ago i experienced a foot fracture i am a 36 year old female.. i came on here for some advice or to know other peoples experience with this because I seem to be seeing people having different experiences with this fracture….im a long distance runner outdoors for 16 years and on sunday I was on my 8th mile and when I stepped down on the concrete I heard my foot make a weird crackle noise…I knew something was weird..it hurt but not to where I couldn’t walk I have always had pain in this foot but always thought it was just from being a runner all my joints ache normally…but this was different I walked the rest of the way home and an hour later decided to go to the ER…they xrayed it and said I had a undisplaced proximal 5th metatarsal fracture…..I was put in a dressing and splint and crutches. I saw an ortho like a day or 2 later….they basically looked at my xrays from the ER and told me I would need a cast or boot…..obviously i thought i was dreaming because it didnt seem real..dr said he couldn’t force me to get a cast but recommended i cast it for 4 weeks NWB ..
