Annoying foot itch

I have had an itch for several years on the bottom of only one foot (on my arch). A podiatrist said it is caused by pressure near the ankle bone from some shoes. It comes and goes, but lately I have not been wearing closed in shoes (mostly sandals) and I still have this itch.
