Greetings! I sustained a Jones fracture a few days ago, and the ER doctor prescribed a blood thinner (Xarelto). I was told that I should take it as long as I was in a cast and had to remain immobilized to prevent any thrombosis or embolism. I’ve read about the side effects or potential problems with taking these medicines, and some of them are downright scary (brain hemorrhages, internal bleeding and the like).
