Hi everyone! My first post here – what a wonderful forum to find! Thank you all for the answers and support for scarredy-cats like me! 🙂 I went to a podiatrist with great toe joint pain – and he said it’s hallux limitus caused by an elevated first metatarsal. Basically the bone inside the foot that connects to the big toe is too high, so when the toe bends up (as during toe-off in walking or running), its first joint catches on this metatarsal bone where they connect, instead of being able to glide over it. It looks like early 2nd stage hallux limitus – I still have a fair amount of cartilage left in the joint, but deterioration has definitely begun, and there is some spurring on both bones
