Healing after matricectomy

I had an infected ingrown toe nail treated 3.5 weeks ago (left big toe, left edge). Removed the offending nail and did the chemical treatment to kill that part of the nail matrix. Went back for a wound check 3 days later and things were reddish on that side of the toe, so the doc wrote a script for keflex but told me to give it a few more days before starting the drug because he thought it was healing as it should.
