pts chickening out of treatment

I often get pts who come to me from very far away (not many podiatrists around here) with painfull ingrown nails, take time off work, travel far, etc, and then don’t let me touch it and chicken out of treatment, thinking that if they come back after a few weeks that they will be less scared. And I am not only talking about children
