I am 33 years old and have been scheduled for surgery for a first metararsalphalangeal joint fusion with possible hallux valgus repair on my right foot. I had a base wedge osteotomy in September 2011 by a podiatrist and have been in increasing pain since. I saw a pain specialist but then went to another podiatrist, who said mine was an interesting case because he thought the original surgeon actually overcorrected the problem causing severe cartilage damage and arthritis (arthritis at 33!)
