3.5cm split tear of peroneus brevis tendon

I have been diagnosed with a 3.5cm split tear of my peroneus brevis tendon of my right ankle with tenosynovitis of 3 of the other tendons. My dr has me in a VACOcast, prescribed PT and referred to a foot/ankle surgeon (wait time is 3-6 months for consult with surgeon) I am hoping someone on this board can share their experience with this type of injury….will I need to have surgery or will boot and physio fix it? I have significant swelling by mid day and pain that seems to flucuate day to day…some days better then others
