I do not think this is an appropriate treatment method for a stress fracture, however I do have a patient who was convinced by her DPM to give a round of cortisone a shot to treat a metatarsal stress fracture. I am a chiropractor so this sort of treatment is out of my scope, therefore it is not even an option for me, yet, I would never be inclined to refer a stress fracture case out for cortisone. Have a missed something in the recent years?
