Did not kill matrix in toe nail

4 treatments doctor still has not killed matrix in toe nail have stabbing pain from nail bed now my knee is out toe is bent from favoring it why’ve keeps telling me I need surgery because of hammer toe that is not the problem he did not kill the matrix Are they that hungry for surgery????please help
